Composite
Compostite Resin For smaller fillings on back teeth, this is a good cost effective option. Basically it is a tooth colored plastic filling. On front teeth that are not too severely broken down or decayed it is an excellent esthetic option. We have many varying shades of composite resin to match the color of your individual tooth. On larger fillings on the biting surfaces of your back teeth, this material is too flexible and tends to have a shorter life expectancy. (Replacement is often indicated after 5-10 years.) In those indications either a porcelain, gold, or amalgam restoration is preferable since they tend to have more similar wear characteristics to natural teeth. On front teeth with minimal remaining tooth structure your only option may be an all porcelain crown, or a porcelain fused to metal crown. |
